WHITE BREAD STICKS
Preparation time: 40–50 minutes including proving time Cooking time: 10–15 minutes
In a large bowl mix together Mevalia bread mix, salt and yeast.
Add 1 tbsp of oil and the water and whisk with an electric mixer with beaters for 2 minutes.
Grease 2–3 flat baking sheets with oil or spray release.
Place the batter into a large disposable piping bag, cut off the end to produce a 5mm gap.
Pipe lengths of dough onto the greased baking sheets, cut the end with a small knife.
Brush the dough sticks with the remaining olive oil and loosely cover with cling film and put in a warm place to prove for 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C Fan/ Gas Mark 6.
Re-brush the sticks with oil and bake for 10 minutes until crisp and lightly browned.
Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack to cool.
USEFUL TIPS
- You could make double the mixture and make a loaf of bread at the same time. It’s great to freeze.
- If you wish to vary the flavour add either some chopped sun dried tomatoes or chopped green or black olives to the bread mixture.
